The Ermida Olivia Booth Scholarship is funded through The Booth Family Foundation. The Ermida Olivia Booth Scholarship is committed to assisting students from middle-income families who have lost a mother or grandmother to cancer. $1,000 will be awarded per student for four consecutive years, the scholarship seeks to empower students by providing them with financial and emotional support throughout their college years.
 

The Ermida O. Booth Scholarship welcomes applications from students who have distinguished themselves through school, community, and/or church activities focusing on helping seniors while showing strong academic achievement in high school and who do not receive federal grant assistance. Students applying for the scholarship must submit an essay about their experience of losing a mother or grandmother to cancer, the impact it has had on their life, and their plans for the future.

REQUIREMENTS

To Qualify for a Scholarship, the Applicant must at a minimum:

​

  1. Have graduated (or will graduate within 6 months of the application deadline) from a high school located in the United States with at least a cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5 or above.
     

  2. Have been accepted by and will attend a public college or university in the United States, on a full-time basis. If you aren't sure if your intended school qualifies, please feel free to send us an inquiry through our "Contact Us" page.
     

  3. Be a United States Citizen.
     

  4. Will demonstrate financial need by supplying a copy of the applicant's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) SAR report. The applicant cannot receive federal grant assistance.
     

  5. Applicants must demonstrate they have distinguished themselves through school, community, and/or church activities focusing on helping seniors. Applicants must provide an essay about their experiences of loss from a mother or grandmother's passing and the impact it has had on their lives and their plans for the future. Describe the applicant's educational goals, and future career plans (must be a minimum of 500 words).
     

  6. Will provide a resume, along with their transcript, and three (3) letters of recommendation with at least one being from a business professional and one from a school official. The letters of recommendation should be from individuals who have known the student long enough to have some understanding of his or her character and abilities.
     

  7. Conduct themselves in a manner that should not bring the recipient into public disrepute, contempt, scandal, or ridicule, or which might tend to reflect unfavorably on the Booth Family Foundation.
